What did make Guild members disturbed is the thorough scrutiny of Kashmir issue by National Media, this time, and it totally exposes their double standards and pro-militancy mindset.
Last week the Editors Guild Of India became the most disquiet over the gag on Kashmir Media that usually do not happen when editors like Shirin Dalvi's journalistic rights and support are deprived (Urdu Editor, who republished the Charlie Hebdo cartoons). The guild aggressively put the foot down for the advocacy of 'free speech-monopoly' for the Kashmir's Newspapers. The guild members raised a huge hue and cry - "This is a direct assault on the freedom of the press in India and the Guild strongly condemns this unwarranted muzzling of the media", "Alleging the Govt for the raids on their offices, The Editors Guild notes that the two leading English newspapers of Kashmir, Greater Kashmir and Rising Kashmir, are run by responsible editors and journalists and report events with sobriety"
But same time the Guild members also endorsed the opinion, which has aligned to a firm tone to divert the issue. The cliche was backing the intent to ban on the National Electronic Media, under the blame lines of "News Channels like Zee, Times Now being the vanguard of their business agenda under orchestrated 'Nationalism' coated with abuse and aggression towards Kashmiri representatives and in results of this, the unrest in Kashmir." Let's look at the stand adopted by Guild members.

Every democracy must deal with its own demon of McCarthyism at some point. Just an essential box to check, I s'pose https://t.co/G7RfT3uX9T— Shekhar Gupta (@ShekharGupta) July 19, 2016
(Faesal Shah, First ever IAS topper from Valley through open merit)
Rant of unrelieved cacophony
Remember the tone of the National Media channel including those channels of guild members have had hardly ever different style on other controversial issues tackled nowadays. Even it became prejudice, packed with falsehood and more lenient towards culprits by the channels of Guild Members. But what made Guild members disturbed is the thorough scrutiny of Kashmir issue by National Media, this time, and it totally exposes their double standard and pro-militancy mindset.
The Editors Guild also stayed with the zipped mouth or in opposing a particular channel when it brought the other facet of Kashmir's voice by going beyond the centre theme of reporting at Kashmir. Not a single tweet came for Zee by so-called Guild. Lest; it makes them uncomfortable and jealous.
The Scared Wisdom Of Kashmir's Hero
Faesal's Assertion: Every hour of prime time TV news aggression pushes Kashmir a mile westward from Indian.
Reality: Every voice of ordinary Kashmiri sitting at the remote site could have brought to hear by his/her fellow countrymen if Kashmiri press and such media Guilds would not have been venomously biased.
Firstly, it is dull-headed that Faesal Shah who once enjoyed the pride of his achievement and remained filled with the appreciation on becoming first IAS topper from the Valley, now damned the every youth's dream job - IAS as a curse. Dying like terrorist Burhan Wani, behind of whom an indignant crowd erupted at his funeral is something that Faesel now calls greater for role modelling than earning a sum of fifty thousand in salary. Now his ideal has been shifted. Reason being for it, media jingoism & biases, abhorrent action by Indian army and state's approach to deal with Kashmir issues - As he has thrown the charges in his self-centred article as below -
"Almost all the programmes on Kashmir right now are aimed to provoke people, the coverage is selective, and intention appears to be to compound the problems for the state government. The print media, though, has always maintained balance."
"In the Indian tradition, the state is supposed to communicate with its people through accommodation, not harangue, and through welfare, not violence."
Faesal Shah is wrong if one does analysis with a holistic view and his observation just outcome of his scared wisdom in the form of the emotional outburst. According to him, the print media have been fair while covering the Kashmir issue; the statement doesn't have any scope of veracity. Kashmir's Key newspapers i.e. Rising Kashmir, Greater Kashmir, Kashmir Observer, Mirror of Kashmir have always remained with intentions of breaking the Kashmir apart from India. Through their publishing, newspapers have kept such interest growing and attempted to shape the opinion of 'India behaves partially with Kashmiri people'. See, what has been the core of their editorial policy is just to keep the handful separatists relevant and alive in news, express the bid adieu to terrorists by publishing with big and bold headlines on the front page, demonise and demean the army every time and write sympathetically towards Pakistan. While covering PM foreign trips, the scribes of Kashmir newspapers always seek for the reprimanding India and Indian PM by International community over Kashmir issue. "Geelani returning from Delhi today" after medical treatment, "Mirwaiz graced the XYZ cultural function", "Yasin Malik criticising the army on Kashmir's environmental damage" such top headlines are very often for Kashmir newspapers. By this, one can judge how much these publications have concerned about the voice of Kashmiri natives living remotely. It is local print media who always lead in provoking Kashmiris against India and remains suppressor of the actual scenes comprising the voice of Kashmiri residents those equally feel proud to be the part of India.
When Afzal supporter intellectual league went on gaga on the issue of JNU sloganeering; these Kashmiri publications asserted to justify Kanhaiyya and company by their editorials. Further, when NIT Srinagar episode happened, same newspapers with their press situated at Srinagar either had suppressed news for a week or reported the matter in a manner to provide less attention. After the seventh day of Incidence surfaced out at national level electronic media and erupted vocal after the social media campaign by victimised non-local students, under compulsion of news reporting these newspapers published the matter and latest developments but with simultaneously evolving the other angle to moderate the issue that non-local students attacked the local students in various parts of India. None of the papers reported about intimidations of rape given to tgirls at NIT of which video was gone viral on social media. Rather it, during those days, an incident of punishing Kashmiri students for similar JNU like sloganeering at college situated at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, Kashmiri press raised the voice under blame tag of discrimination and published the news items with more preference.
Moreover to it, same Kashmiri media joins the tone of opposition by the separatists when the matter comes to rehabilitate the Kashmiri Pandits, and it hardly writes for supporting Kashmiri Pandits. Further, Kashmiri media's stand of being anti-Indian army cannot be deniable. It sets prejudice in the matters where military alleged with rape charges, beating locals. Attempts by local press to make the case influenced cannot be ignored.
Same Kashmiri media joins the tone of opposition by the separatists when the matter comes to rehabilitate the Kashmiri Pandits, and it hardly writes for supporting Kashmiri Pandits.
Now Faesal Shah should tell the people how good local newspapers run by so-called responsible editors are wide representatives of Kashmiri people and are they not the misrepresenting the idea of Kashmir in India at the moment?
Faesel Shah's other allegation India must change its way of talking to Kashmir, not with the language of guns. The state should establish the mode of communication to hear local people. Likewise, joining the chorus with him, his friend Ravish Kumar, a mere preacher of journalistic ideals, too blamed the Centre and state for not curbing his rivals channels and questioned on stopping the circulation of local newspapers. For these, he used to call 'Jingoistic' and 'Open minded' respectively.
Here, Faesel Shah and Ravish Kumar should go for the fact-check. Indian military and the state have always adopted as much as soft approach required to deal with the rough and stone pelters' crowd unless it turned to violent with hand grenades and acid bombs to kill our Jawans. But who actually encourage the crowd that Faesal and his supporter must look for? In the circumstances, such emotionally driven crowd would like to abide any mode of state communication when their agent provocateurs are ready to ignite them again, is the far impossible thing. Look at the numbers of the casualties happened at army side, are they not human beings? Don't have any emotions? But Faesal does not worry about them.
Remember the Kashmir flood in 2014; it was army who evacuated the Kashmiris including the Geelani and company. It was army who provided the housing and assistance to the flood-hit locals. More 5000 crores rupees in relief fund and other funds has provided to Kashmir.
Further, Faesal and his endorsers preach the sermons the state should hear from natives and think for providing them shelter. But he has forgotten that it is Kashmir only which has so far treated distinctly on top priority among all states to render the shelters and relief. Remember the Kashmir flood in 2014; it was army who evacuated the Kashmiris including the Geelani and company. It was army who provided the housing and assistance to the flood-hit locals. More than 5000 crores rupees in relief fund and other funds has provided to Kashmir. And still, it is the tyranny of Indian state for Faesal.
Ravish, who calls rival channels jingoistic, is just jealous out of his desperation for that, others have done by Azad Reporting what he could not do when talks about a balanced journalism.
So this is all about the double standards of the Kashmir media and their helpmates.
