How Intelligence Agencies was obtained the lead to arrest Deena khan?
Three months ago, police had arrested two spies named Santram and Vinod Maheshwari for sending confidential information of Indian Army, war exercise and other important information to Pak via Facebook, a grave offence under sections 3,3/9 of Secret Information Act, 1923. During interrogation, these spies revealed that Deena Khan used to provide them funds from time to time. State Police & Intelligence Agencies, thus, begins keeping the surveillance over Khan and the information was confirmed. On getting adequate evidence that Khan was getting money from foreign agent, he was caught. The official police sources has said this.
After arrest interrogation of Deena Khan by Intelligence agencies of Rajasthan police have found that ISI cross border handlers allegedly set up donation boxes at shrines and Mazars, and use the money donated by devotees to fund spies in the border villages of the state. As TOI reports says Khan has revealed to intel agencies that he was in-charge of a small Mazar in Chohtan village of Barmer district and distributed Rs 3.5 lakh of Mazar's donation to other spies like Satram Maheswari and his nephew Vinod Maheswari. His handlers in Pakistan would call him over phone, and ask him to distribute fund accordingly. Khan was paid handsomely by ISI for anti-national activities.
According the report of TOI, Police officer said Deena Khan disturbed the amount among several spies, including Satram and Haji Khan, who were also arrested by the border intelligence earlier this year for sharing confidential information about the movement of Indian troops along the international border. "Since no record books were maintained by the Mazar authorities, Deena Khan secretly used part of the religious offerings to fund anti-national activities," the officer said.
Now, the police is investigating that ISI probably have set up several such donation boxes at multiple local shrine in border areas to fund its espionage activities. "Nowadays It is difficult to distribute money through Hawala network as it can be traced. Hence, the donation boxes are simple way to collect money and distribute it among the spies," the officer said.
Intelligence agencies are now keeping a close surveillance over the sudden rise in the pattern of make-shift local shrines that have sprung up in border villages. The district superintendents of police have been directed to keep a close vigil at such places.
